Kota Kinabalu Centennial Lions Club. - Malaysia. District 308-A2.
I learned in July this year, that the records at the Registrar of Societies were updated with new office bearers for the period 1.7.2024 to 30.6.2025.
However, several Club members were upset because no election was held.
When I heard this conversation, I was upset because of the fraudulent updating of records at the ROS. This was similar to what LCKKHost did in 2017.
Several questions raced through my mind:
1. Who updated the register at the ROS?
2. What document was used to update the register? It can’t be an AGM as the AGM will be held after the Year-end. It has to be the election meeting as stipulated on the LCI website.
3. There was no election held. So how could office bearers have been elected?
My attempt to get a response from ROS about which form was filed was unsuccessful.
I wrote to the District Governor via email. Instead of responding via email, she telephoned me and I explained what I knew and asked her to check.
Here is one of many emails to DG Annie Ho.

Dear DG. Annie Ho,
Thank you for your telephone call this afternoon.
You said that the club concerned told you that their Club's Constitution states that the election need not be held at the AGM.
As the DG you ought to know that no club needs to have its election during the AGM.
I asked a few simple questions.
i. Was an election meeting held?
ii. Where was it held?
iii. At what time was it held?
You asked me to report to LCI. You are expected to do as the DG of the day.
You should convene a meeting with a few trusted PDGs and get their advice on what to do.
Do you want Katyrn to remain as the district chairperson?
Is Winnie fit to be the next DG?
I don’t want to have to report this to LCI or the police.
I hope to receive a reply to my email.
Regards,
Luqman Michel
Instead of answering my questions, Annie said that the VDG (Winnie) who is a member of the Centennial Club told her that all is in order.
Since this is the same irresponsible behaviour as that of the Lion Leaders in 2017, I left the matter.
A few days after 13.12.24 I received a letter dated 13.12.24, from ROS stating an investigation was carried out following my complaint.
The investigation revealed that a few matters were not following the Constitution.
A Notice under 14 (2) had been issued. ROS will continue monitoring the Club to ensure procedures are followed.
Note: I tagged Alan Thoo on my Facebook post and would like to see what he does about this matter.
Alan Thoo, I know you will say this is not your district. It is, however, a Lions Club in Malaysia and if there is any truth to 'We are family with no boundary' you ought to look into this as well. Is this what Lions are taught to do? It is high time that Sabah and Sarawak Lions are taught how to conduct themselves. I have already tried talking with several Lions PDG in Sabah/Sarawak. Now, I request you to look into this matter.
To be continued - further analysis…
