Acquisations of PP Chin Chee Thau and his responses (Part 2)

PP Chin Chee Thau was accused of

1. Disclosure of internal club matters to outsiders which resulted in the matters being published in the Daily Express. (Answered in my previous post. LINK)

2. Pestering of the Club Secretary since July 2024.

3. Spreading unsubstantiated allegations.

Now, let us see PP Chin’s response one point at a time.

Here is the answer to number 2 above.

All senior club members, including Horace Ho, Dr. Jas Lim, Sulong, and myself, requested the release of information, but our appeals were ignored. Despite our pleas, we received no response. The Centennial Board, which was not properly elected—particularly the President and the secretary—failed to recognize the responsibility owed to club members and their democratic right to access club information.

No matter how minor an issue may seem, statutory filings demand attention. This is especially true when the secretary abruptly calls for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), and a subsequent review by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) reveals administrative breaches under Section 14(2) of the investigation. Holding key roles in any organization or NGO requires maturity, as stress and feelings of harassment are sometimes unavoidable. In the Centennial club, this pressure is compounded by dominant members who block the release of critical information, despite legal obligations to disclose it.

I requested the information in a reasonable manner. If terms like "criminal" or "jail" were mentioned, it’s because the situation involves two key issues: club administration and the criminal offense of submitting false e-filings not reflective of actual events. With a club of so many members, addressing these shortcomings is essential to protect the integrity of a healthy membership.

Moreover, my intent is to speak the truth plainly, without any aim to harass. The urgency stems from the issue being reported in local news. As a Lion with over 50 years of service, I am doing my utmost to prevent my reputation from being sullied by this matter. I sought the information from ROS, who advised me to consult my secretary or club, even before their investigation into the e-filing issues and the Section 14(2) violations were documented. My goal is to uncover the facts and ensure transparency in the administration.
