In the Lckk Centennial Lions Club, where Dato Winnie Lee serves as Vice District Governor, club officers for 2024/2025 were appointed rather than elected, violating the club’s constitution and Lions Club International’s requirement for elections.
Past President Chin Chee Thau questioned the appointed secretary about the lack of an election, urging corrective action to protect the club’s reputation. Instead, the illegally appointed officers expelled PP Chin, causing him significant stress. I supported him by helping draft letters to the club but later became unavailable due to work commitments, including a legal case against Vistana Heights’ developer and client accounting tasks.
Despite my unavailability, PP Chin continued sending updates, expressing frustration over the delayed Club Dispute Resolution Procedure (CDRP), for which he paid RM800. Recently, I learned PP Chin was found unresponsive at home, unable to speak, and was admitted to the ICU at QEH. His son discovered him, and when I visited, he recognized me but could only say a few words, unable to access his phone due to forgetting the password.
I suspect the stress from his wrongful expulsion on baseless charges contributed to his condition. The club’s failure to hold elections and the appointment of officers, in a club where Winnie Lee is a member, raises serious concerns about the conduct of Lions Club members.
