Lions Club Controversy

In the Lckk Centennial Lions Club, where Dato Winnie Lee serves as Vice District Governor, club officers for 2024/2025 were appointed rather than elected, violating the club’s constitution and Lions Club International’s requirement for elections.

Two Stalemates: Stonewalling, Backfire, and the Cost of Clinging to Beliefs

I’ve been mulling over two frustrating matters while weeding in my garden—two situations where people seem to dig in rather than deal with the issues at hand. First, why aren’t the developer and architect in the Vistana Heights case taking the easy way out by buying back my property at market value instead of dragging this to court? Second, why is Lions Clubs International (LCI) not acting against the Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Centennial Club when I’ve openly pointed out their failure to hold an election meeting, which violates the LCI Constitution? The same question applies to District Governor Annie Ho, who has thrown up hurdles to stop PP Chin Chee Thau from meeting for the Club Dispute Resolution Procedure (CDRP). Let’s unpack these one at a time, exploring how stonewalling, the backfire effect, and a stubborn refusal to think might be at play.

LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION GUIDELINES

What happens when District Governors (DGs) are unaware of the dispute resolution guidelines outlined on the Lions Clubs International (LCI) website? This was the situation my friend faced after being expelled on March 10th, 2025. He attempted to resolve the issue amicably, avoiding the formal Dispute Resolution Procedure (DRP), especially since the DG had arbitrarily set a cost of USD 200 instead of the usual amount of USD 50.

Open letter to LCI (Part 4) LCI flouting its constitution

The following is my email written to Mr. David Kingsbury of LCI, Administration Division, Finance Division, The President of LCI on 21.1.2021.

Dear Mr. David Kingsbury,

Open letter to Lions Club International (Part 3) Fraud

Falsification of recording in Registrar of Societies records by Lions of Kota Kinabalu Host.

I refer to your response dated 4.1.2017 wherein you had stated the following:

In the event an issue causes concern as to whether a respective club is compliant with local laws, registrations and filings, a complaint may be filed under the Club Dispute Resolution Procedure (CDRP).

As the club was non-compliant with local laws the club was deregistered by ROS.

The local law that was contravened was the inclusion of an illegal Past Presidents’ Council that was not registered with Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Open Email to Lions International (Part 2)

Lions – Club Dispute Resolution Procedure (CDRP)

Dear Sir,

I refer to my email dated 13.12.2016 to you and other relevant departments in LCI.

Let me ask you a hypothetical question.

Assuming I am not a Lion’s Club member but have solid evidence that a Lion Club has bank accounts (similar to Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host) where money is siphoned out and I complain to you, are you going to ask me to file a complaint under CDRP?

If you did that, I would ask you to go fly a kite. Why would any sane human being pay you USD 50 to inform you of a crime committed as was done by my former club.

I think you should look into this aspect and make some amendments so that the public may freely complain to you of similar misappropriation.

Right now it appears that Lions International is only interested in making money and don’t care a hoot if individual clubs misappropriate money meant for the needy.

Here is an extract from the internet found here.

All disputes arising between any member or members, or a former member or members, and the club, or any officer on the board of the club, relative to membership, or the interpretation, breach of, or  application  of  the  club’s  constitution  and  by-laws,  or  the  expulsion  of  any  member from the club, or any other internal Lions club matter whatsoever which cannot be satisfactorily resolved through other means, shall be settled by dispute resolution. All parties to any dispute subject to this procedure shall not pursue administrative or judicial actions during this dispute resolution process.

Lions in District 308A2 are recommended to read and familiarise on how to handle disputes. I don’t believe Eve Wong knew what to do.

Passing the buck (part 1) details

The following are the full contents of emails I posted extracts of yesterday. I had not posted  all these emails for a year hoping matters will be settled amicably.

Now, that even LCI Legal is trying to pass the buck to me I think it is high time I lay all the cards on the table.

Here is an email to PDG Dato Lawrence Ting that I wrote on 12.12.2016 while I was still a member of LCKKHost.

Passing the buck (part 1)

I wrote to LCI Finance on 12.12.2016 and then to LCI Finance, Administration and Legal on 13.12.2016 and again on 18.12.2016 and continued with many more emails.

I wrote to most of the PDG’s in District 308A2 and to the DG and VDG.

The then VDG Pelly Lee did not respond to any of the emails I sent to her as shown below. I shall post the full emails to her tomorrow for anyone interested in reading the details. The following are extracts.

I did not receive any response to my 2 emails to Public Affairs, Administration, Finance or Legal Division and neither was there one from Mr.David Kingsbury.

Then in December 2017 I wrote the following email to LCI.

Dear Mr.David and Mr. Bob Corlew,

I had written a letter requesting CDRP to be instituted by Ms.Eve Wong on 12.2.2017.

To-date despite many emails to her she has not been able to set up a committee to settle this matter between me and my former club.

Sirs, the CDRP procedures states:

“Hang a sheep's head while selling dog meat”

Continuing from my previous post -

Here are a few more paragraphs from the email sent by John SF Ho.

“The police in Bukit Aman and Travers have already advised me to initiate legal action against LM for these allegations. I am holding back because I doubt he has enough money to pay if he loses.”

on FB can do something to get you guys at LCI to act.

This is getting ridiculous where my emails are not even acknowledged receipt by you.
