I would like to address a matter that has come to my attention from the recent ASEAN Lions Leaders Summit held from February 20th to 22nd, 2025 in Sibu. LINK
I understand from a Lion member who attended the summit that the First Vice District Governor (VDG) informed many Past District Governors (PDGs) that the issue I had brought up was resolved. The VDG reportedly referenced a letter from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) addressed to me, stating that the matter was resolved.
However, I am deeply troubled that the current District Governor (DG) Annie Ho and other PDGs appear to have been easily misled by the VDG's claims. This is a concerning development, as I had specifically written to DG Annie Ho in September 2024, asking her to investigate the following:
i. When was the election meeting held?
ii. Where was the election meeting held?
iii. Who attended the meeting?
DG Annie Ho had simply stated that the matter was resolved, without providing any concrete details on how it was resolved.
My question remains: Was an election meeting ever held to elect the officers for the 2024/2025 financial year? If such a meeting had been held, the details should have been readily available.
I am also deeply disturbed to learn that a long-standing member of the Centennial Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu has been issued an expulsion letter. One of the reasons cited for this expulsion is the wrongful accusation that the senior member had divulged information about the Club to a non-member. However, I have been informed by a third party that the information was actually divulged by the VDG and another member, Anny Poh.
I sincerely hope that DG Annie Ho and the other PDGs will take the time to thoroughly investigate this matter, rather than simply accepting the VDG's claims at face value. They must speak directly with the members of the Centennial Lions Club to ascertain whether an election meeting was indeed held to elect the officers for the 2024/2025 term.
I urge DG Annie Ho to refrain from colluding with the VDG and providing inaccurate information to Lions Clubs International (LCI). The integrity of the Lions organization is at stake, and we must ensure that all matters are resolved fairly and transparently.
iii.
