Lions Clubs – Lessons to be learned (Part 2)

lit. an arrogant army is bound to lose (idiom)
fig. pride goes before a fall
Let us give Barry Palmer a few days to discuss matters with LCI and other IPP's. Meanwhile let us look at what lessons we can all learn from the LCKK Host screw up by LCI and PDG's.

Many of the former members of the Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host have paid a high price for the arrogance of a few of the Past Presidents of Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host..

Some of the Past Presidents led by John Ho became over-confident and ignored what they did not know. They became arrogant.

If you had read my book ‘Wolves among Lions’ available on Amazon and on my website www.luqmanmichel.com you would have seen that I had given numerous avenues to make up and move on. I had apologized on numerous occasions and was willing to move on but the president Thomas Ho wanted clearance from John Ho to make up. If this is what Presidents of Lions Clubs are made of, then it leaves much to be desired.

The punch that the LCKK Host did not see coming is the one that knocked them out. All the 38 members attending the EGM did not take the words of Past President Arabi Wazani seriously. This was especially so because Past President Muthusamy Palanisamy stopped further comments and quickly asked for voting to commence. He voted against me despite having assured me that he will stand neutral.

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “arrogant” as having or showing the insulting attitude of people who believe that they are better, smarter, or more important than others.

The above applies to all those who voted at the EGM and is especially the case with Muthusamy, Jim Rajaratnam, Visvalingam, CC Pung, Joseph Chai and others who underestimated the words of Arabi Wazani.

An advice from Kenneth Yen that I should be extended a show-cause letter was completely ignored.
Muthusamy had told some of the former members that he is the pillar of society and is a professor recognized worldwide but his behavior is far from that of a decent human being. Betrayal is considered one of the biggest no-no as far as Indians are concerned. This guy could have easily said sorry to me when he had met me at functions and moved on but he chose not to. How do I forgive and forget when one does not ask for forgiveness?

The main problem is that John Ho had been treated like a God for far too many years. Any major decision was referred to him. AND because the President during my year, Carol Lo asked me to find out about the 100% perfect attendance pin John Ho got upset. If one cares to think about it, the whole matter started from there. John could not accept someone smarter than him in the club and decided to get him out.
