Are Lions what they portray themselves to be?

 

Here are extracts from the Lions Handbook (indented) and my comments. Response from any Lion or anyone for that matter is welcome.

For those who do not have time, at least please read the sentences highlighted in red.

Quotable quotes 2 - Mysterious bank accounts

“The 2 accounts disclosed to ROS are project account and administrative account. These must not be confused with bank accounts. Under project account we can have as many bank accounts as we want. There is nothing mysterious about it.” (John SF Ho)

Would you believe that the above is written by a qualified accountant?

Quotable quotes (Part 1)

On 12.12.2016 John SF Ho sent a Whats app message to the members of Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host as follows:

J Ho: “The onus of proof of any wrong doing is on the accuser. Let Luqman prove KK Host has 3 bank accounts at Alliance Bank. Any legal organization can have as many bank accounts they want.”

History repeats

No matter what has happened most people do not learn and therefore few things ever change.

For instance, John SF Ho has been spinning yarns from as early as July 2016 and yet many clowns still believe him up until today. They still believe that the deregistered club will be restored.  These clowns believe that John Ho’s appeal to Home Affairs minister will be looked into and the order by Registry of Societies to deregister the club will be reversed. 

Lions Club International - My emails and responses

I am baffled by the recent response from Lions Club International to my emails.

 

Here is my 3^rd email to LCI since the de-registration of Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu host.

I have been a Facebook friend of Past International President (IP) Barry Palmer for quite a while now. He is the first and only IP of Lions Club International from Down Under.

I hope to continue this discussion with him to see how this problem I had with LCI should have been handled.

Here is a post on FB  on 22.12.2016 which I read to get some information to write to MICPA. 

On 12.12.2016 John SF Ho sent a Whatsapp message to the members of Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host as follows:

A stitch in time saves nine - inaction of DG, VDG, PDG's and LCI

A leader should shoulder responsibility for making decisions that will have implications for many others.

However, that does not come naturally to most 'so called leaders'. Their natural inclination is to pass the buck to someone else.

In the case of Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host, decisions could have been taken by the club members when Past President Horace Ho Toh Chee tried to get PDG John Ho and me to bury the hatchet. I accepted but John Ho declined to make up.

Lions Club’s response to Newspaper report

The Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host claims it responded within 24 hours upon receiving a show cause letter from the Registrar of Societies on issues it believes “were purely administrative and do not warrant deregistration”

My comment: Why would The Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host respond within 24 hours when the matter is of such grave importance?

Should the matter not have been discussed at a BOD meeting or even at an EGM where all members’ opinions had been sought?

Extracts of relevant sections of Societies Act

2 (A) Registered societies to act in fulfillment of the Constitution

The registrar may cancel the registration of the society after giving the society an opportunity to make representations to him.

My comments: The Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host (Name applies only as from November 2016 . Prior to this date the name was not registered with ROS) was served with a notice under section 13 (2) of the Societies Act. 

Is Lions Club International a Franchisor?

When I did not get any response from my club members I decided to write to LCI. I was told by one Past President from my club that LCI will not take any action as it is similar to a franchisor.

Another past president from another club was very cocky (or so I thought) and said that he was sure LCI will not interfere in local affairs.

The above two statements in 2012 apparently were what was presented at the AGM. I won't know if it was actually presented as I was not a member. Apparently according to Marcia Hong they had convinced Bukit Aman police that this was presented at the AGM (if that was true) and as such there was no misappropriation of funds.
